Karoliina Paasonen is a Finnish film director and cinematographer. In 2008, she created her first short film, Aura’s Cabin, set in a remote forest cabin. This early work marked the emergence of her distinctly Scandinavian visual language - characterized by simplicity, restraint, and atmospheric imagery. Although filmed in Berlin-Spandau, Karoliina’s atmospheric visual storytelling and distinctive cinematic signature gave the film the feeling of having been created deep within the forests of Scandinavia. The project laid the foundation for an artistic style that continues to define her work today: visually driven, emotionally resonant, and rooted in the power of images to tell stories beyond words.

At the heart of the film was a woman dressed in white, moving between inner worlds, memory, and reality. Karoliina Paasonen ist eine finnische Regisseurin und Kamerafrau. Bereits 2008 realisierte sie ihren ersten Kurzfilm in einem Wald in einer abgelegenen Hütte. In diesem frühen Werk, „Auras Hütte“, entstand ein skandinavisch geprägter, reduzierter Bildstil, der in Berlin-Spandau gedreht wurde. Durch Karoliinas atmosphärische Bildgestaltung und ihre unverwechselbare filmische Handschrift wirkte der Film jedoch, als sei er tief in den Wäldern Skandinaviens entstanden.

Im Zentrum stand eine weibliche Hauptfigur in Weiß, die zwischen inneren Welten, Erinnerung und Realität wandelt.
